Our mission can be viewed from four dimensions;
Dynamic and Dutiful

To develop an Islamic educational framework in order to prepare religious scientists (‘Ulama) who acquire, practice and propagate Islam, being alert of their ultimate responsibilities towards Almighty Allah and towards their own slaves, family, institution , society , surroundings and private and public resources and to make them capable of competing the shifting trends of modern education.

Holistic and Harmonious

To offer a holistic and comprehensive material education, harmonious with the Islamic principles in order to foster the personal, spiritual and intellectual developments of the students.

Integrated

To incorporate the Islamic doctrinal beliefs and value into the educational practices, so as to integrate educational theories with practices, and extend the class room activities with real-life situations and societal experiences.

Unified

To unify the purpose of seeking knowledge of various contents and nature in line with the Islamic legacy of hierarchy and unity of knowledge as proclaimed I the holy Quran and the tradition of holy prophet ( pbuh).

To provide academic excellence of highest standards to develop new trends and ideas to keep with the modernization of knowledge.

To offer the students evidence-based academic tools of wisdom to produce better material to build up the confidence of self reliant by which they can meet the academic challenges and find happiness through achievements.

VISION

DHIU aims to be the bastion of expertise in Islamic education that they can restore the dynamic role and educational superiority of past Muslim society in all intellectual programs and that seeks to rekindle the spirit of scholarship in Islamic sciences in the era of ever- changing society due to the innovative growth of modern sciences. Its vision also includes Islamization of knowledge and setting up of international research centers of educational excellence in various Islamic disciplines for the development of Muslim community in learning, teaching and research of highest standards and keeping intellectual tradition alive. It also aims to be an exemplary institution which can to mould up a bunch of such religious scientists (Ulamas) who are the virtu al heirs of the holy prophet Muhammed (pbuh).

PHILOSOPHY

DHIU is founded upon the educational philosophy of Islam which in turn is inspired by the principles of hierarchy and unity of knowledge in its intents, contents and methods. Therefore, our philosophy is based on;

Recognizing Allah, the almighty as the fountain- head of knowledge (al ‘ allam); acknowledging him as the ultimate end of every human endeavors; and believing that his guidance ( Huda) as the absolute essential part for human development in all spheres of life

Believing that the prophetic outlet of divine perfect knowledge is trust-worthy and infallible Recognizing that the real distinction between the revelation and human interpretations of Quran Acknowledging that the knowledge shall be acquired, internalized and propagated ( Ta’leem, Tarbiya and Da’wa) for the sake of Allah the almighty and for the benefit of humanity and progress of community at large

HISTORY

DHIU was established as an Islamic Academy in 1986 and formally upgraded to a university in May 2009. The philosophy upheld by DHIU was the unique product of prolonged discourses and deliberations among great visionary scholars and supportive community leaders who were deeply concerned about the dichotomous view towards education as religious and secular.

M.M. Basheer Musliyar(1929-1987), C.H Haidaroos Musliyar (1930-1994),Dr. U Bapputty Haji (1929-2003),Sayyid Umar Ali Shihab Thangal,Panakkad (1941-2008),Pro. E. Muhmmed (1944-2010) and Shaikhna Cherussery Zainundheen Musliyar (1937-2016) came and work together in order to bring Islamic education in true and traditional way. From its outset, DHIU continues to be academic establishments in dynamic equilibrium with its religious and social ventures striving continuously for shaping a knowledgeable generation who are able rekindle the unparalleled Islamic legacy of knowledge.

Now Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammed Nadwi ,the vice chancellor of DHIU, spearheads the educational movement of DHIU that stretched its working spheres to other states of India to implement the replica of DHIU so as to uplift Muslims belong to these states in educational and cultural dimensions and create and sustain a community of learning in which students acquire knowledge and apply it in the development of society and nation with due consideration for ethical and religious values.
