Post graduate course in societal development is two-year inter disciplinary program focusing on trans- formative cultures of religious particularly Islam in various societies and communities on issues of devel- opment, as well as religious’ various roles in the empowerment process of oppressed and deprived com- munities in India. It draws from a variety of disciplines in social sciences and humanities, ranging from social policy an social theory, to development and polity, to psychology and anthropology, to history and religious studies. The program fulfils Darul Huda Islamic University's vision to contribute to the empowerment of mar- ginalized communities and thereby to global sustainable development goals relating to promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies. Through intensive field research and critical pedagogies, the curriculum stresses students’ capacity for autonomous and critical understanding of development concerns. The program gears towards capacitat- ing scholars for management and development skills and addresses social, educational and philanthropi- cally challenges of local and minority communities
