Department of Translation and Comparative Literature

Department of Translation and Comparative Literature offers students the opportunity to undertake a sustained study of the theory and practice of translation and comparative literature. More than simply examining how meaning is transferred from one language to another, the department opens up a space to examine linguistic encounter and exchange across languages, as well as across multiple cultures and disciplines. The department aims at equipping the research scholars with translation skills along with promoting studies in linguistics and comparative literature. The interdisciplinary program enables them to specialise in Translation; principles and challenges, comparative literature, Tahqeeq; theory and practice, Translating texts; practical training, Linguistics etc. As a result, many literary and non-literary works have been translated by the scholars. Accredited courses in translation and foreign languages are main attractions of this department.
