Academic Council

Academic Council

The Academic Council shall be the academic body of the University and subject to the provisions of the Act and the Statutes, it shall have the control and the general regulation, and be responsible for the maintenance of standards of instruction, education and examinations within the University, and shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the Statutes. The Academic Council shall consist of the following members namely:

• a) The Pro-Chancellor
• b) The Vice-Chancellor
• c) The Pro - Vice-Chancellor
• d) Members of the Syndicate.
• e) Deans of the Faculties of the University
• f) Four Heads of the Departments of University other than Deans of Faculties nominated by the Chancellor by rotation according to seniority.
• g) Two Principals of affiliated colleges other than the Syndicate members nominated by the Chancellor.
• h) Ten external experts not exceeding 10 and not less than 5 having outstanding academic ability nominated by the Chancellor.
• i) Two Hudawis other than the Syndicate members nominated by the Chancellor.

Members of the Academic Council other than ex-officio members hold office for five years from the date of their appointment or nomination.
