Malappuram (KERALA): Vice-Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University (DHIU), Kerala and the Central Council member of Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama (All Kerala Ulama Organization). Prof. Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammed Nadwi has been honoured as one of the world's 500 most influential Muslims which is featured on the 2024 edition of the book The Muslim 500 published by the Royal Islamic Strategic Centre of Amman, Jordan in collaboration with George Town University of USA.
Dr. Nadwi is regarded as the only Muslim scholar from India on the scholarly list while several Indians have also been added to religious administration and cultural categories.
Among the 500 influential Muslims, prominent scholars and eminent political leaders have been counted. King Salman of Saudi Arabia and its prime minister King Muhammed bin Salman, Qatar Ameer Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, and UAE President Muhammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and teacher and co-founder of Zaytuna College, Dr Hamza Yusuf are one of the selected influencers for their significant impact.
Dr. Nadwi has been included on the list since 2012. He is the founding Vice Chancellor of DHIU. He has authored several books, treatises, edited volumes, and translation in Arabic, English and Malayalam, spanning Qur'anic sciences, Islamic Jurisprudence, Hadith, education, Sufism, Comparative Religion, Arabic Language and Literature, and Islamic History.
He is Editor in Chief of an International Journal of Islamic studies, and a member of regional (Kerala), national and international organizations.
