At his thirty, he moved to north India to pursue higher studies and got enrolled in Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, one of the earliest prestigious Muslim seminaries in India, and achieved ‘Alimiyya’ degree in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies. From the Nadwa itself, he was awarded the Fazeelath (Master’s) degree in Islamic Studies. Later on, he also obtained another master's degree in Arabic Literature from Aligarh Muslim University in 1987. His first international educational trip was to Al-Azhar University Egypt to pursue an advanced diploma in Islamic Preaching. In 1993, he got Ph.D. from the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, University of Calicut. Three years later, the University also awarded him the Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
Dr. Nadwi is regarded as one of the six founding fathers of the then Darul Huda Islamic Academy (DHIA). Since inception of DHIA, he held the post of Vice Principal and when the Academy was upgraded to be the ever-first Islamic University in South India, he was appointed as the first Vice Chancellor. Integrating Islamic higher education with the secular, he devised, designed and implemented a comprehensive curriculum in the University.
He has been an active member of different organizations and Islamic colleges and a pioneer of a number of academic initiatives, religious and social movements across India. In 2011 he was elected as the member of International Union of Muslim Scholars based in Qatar. He is the current President of All Kerala Mu’allims' (Teachers) Federation and the Executive Member of National Monitoring Committee for Minorities Education, a constitutional board under the ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.

Dr. Nadwi has been honored with many national and international awards and felicitations. In 2003, he was selected as a Participant in the International Visitor Program organized by the US Department of State. In 2006, he was elected as a Participant for the Dubai Holy Qur’an Award Speeches organized by Dubai Government. In 2009, he was invited to Emirates as the Ramadan Guest of H.H. the President of UAE. For decades, he has been officially participating in different academic seminars, symposiums and workshops in various countries.
