Prof. Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammed Jamaluddeen Nadwi

Prof. Dr. Bahauddeen Muhammed Jamaluddeen Nadwi is the founding Vice Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University. One of the most influential 500 Muslims of the world, he has authored and translated many books in various Islamic disciplines and has delivered lectures around the globe.

He holds memberships in national and international organizations including the International Union of Muslim Scholars. Currently, he is the President of Samastha Kerala Jam'iyyathul Mu'allimeen Central Council, a supreme council of religious teachers in Kerala. He was born to Muhammed Jamaluddeen Musliyar and Fathima Hajja on 22 April 1951 (15 Rajab 1370 A.H) at Kooriyad, Malappuram, Kerala.The scholarly lineage of his family hails from his father, a well-known Sufi scholar and his maternal grandfather Sheikh Zainuddin bin Ahmed alias Thenu Musliyar, a popular Sufi of the 20th century Malabar. After his early education, in 1972 he got enrolled in Jamia Nooriyya Arabiyya, the premier higher institution of Islamic religious learning in Kerala, and completed the course with the honorary title of Moulawi Fazil al-Faizy. He completed the degree of Afzal al- ‘Ulama’ from University of Calicut in 1979 and a Diploma in Arabic Language Teaching from the government of Kerala in 1971.
